Argya Sadan is a Los Angeles-based architect turned production designer and set designer for film, television productions and music videos. Her recent credits include The Killer (2023) and Daisy Jones and the Six (2023) - both nominated for 2024 Art Directors’ Guild Awards - as well as Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty (2022-23), Don’t Worry Darling (2022), and 9-1-1 (2018-2019).
Sadan’s journey to production design began with a strong foundation in architecture. She started her career at two of India’s leading architecture firms designing commercial and residential developments. Drawing inspiration from her multicultural upbringing across Singapore and India with extensive travels across Asia, Sadan developed a keen aesthetic sensibility influenced by diverse cultural experiences. To this day, she jumps at opportunities to design worlds that tell global stories.
Driven by a passion to create meaningful impact, Sadan’s work took her to Cape Town, South Africa, where she contributed to sustainable eco-design initiatives aimed at providing affordable housing solutions to local communities. In India, she served as a fellow at the non-profit organization Make A Difference, where she led a team of writers, designers and videographers to launch awareness campaigns for at-risk children.
This pursuit of storytelling through film propelled Sadan to secure a spot at the esteemed American Film Institute Conservatory. She completed AFI’s prestigious Production Design program in 2017, one of just ten students in her cohort and the only one from India.
In 2017, Sadan was recognized by the Art Directors Guild, which selected her as one of thirteen recipients for its Production Design Initiative, and was a finalist for the Television Academy’s Emmy Internship Program. Her 2018 thesis film Little Darling was nominated for Best Production Design at the Utah Film Festival and received a Gold Award for Production Design at the International Independent Film Awards.
A versatile production designer, set designer and art director, Sadan can usually be found exploring nature, LA’s vibrant neighborhoods and colorful farmers’ markets. She has worked across multiple states and countries and is open to travel for work.
